Linfoot and O’Halloran will remain with Honda Racing in 2018
Good news for Fireblade fans: Riders Dan Linfoot and Jason O’Halloran are sticking with the Honda Racing squad for the 2018 British Superbike Championship, where they’ll once again spearhead the team over the course of the series.
2018 will be O’Halloran’s 11th year as a Honda rider (eighth with Honda UK), and Linfoot’s fourth. “I feel that consistency is the key,” Honda Racing team manager Havier Beltran said. “Especially after this year, with the all-new Fireblade and the development and hard work everyone has put in.”
The Louth-based squad had a solid 2017 season, with both O’Halloran and Linfoot playing an integral part in the Fireblade’s development. Between the two of them, they helped turn the machine into a double-BSB winner, as Linfoot secured his maiden BSB win, and O’Halloran secured a place in the Showdown and wrapped up the year fifth in the overall championship standings.
“Finishing how we did at Brands Hatch – in second place – was a nice way to end the season. We had the fastest lap of the race and were just half a second off the win, so I know that from the start of next year we can be competitive from the first round,” O’Halloran said.
Honda Racing is now preparing for an extensive testing programme over the winter, with the first test to take place in Jerez, Spain, in a few weeks’ time.
“We’ll be ready to hit the ground running in the new year and look to be in the 2018 Showdown fighting at the top and for the championship,” Linfoot said.
Before the duo head to Spain, they will attend Motorcycle Live, the UK’s biggest bike show, at The NEC in Birmingham. Look for them at the Honda stand (2D20, 2E15) on Saturday, 18 November.
