Tokyo Motor Show: 17 things you might’ve missed

In addition to world premieres for the Sports EV Concept and Neo Sports Café Concept, Honda has shown off 17 new products at the Tokyo Motor Show, including cars, motorcycles and much, much more. Here’s everything you need to know.

  • 01 Honda Urban EV Concept

    Built on a newly developed dedicated EV platform, the electric Honda Urban EV Concept showcases the technology and design directions for Honda’s future mass-production EV models. A new model based on this concept will go on sale first in Europe, and then in Japan, in 2020. Click here for more info.

  • 02 Honda NeuV

    The Honda NeuV is an EV concept model with automated driving technologies and AI. NeuV makes judgments about the driver’s stress levels based on facial expressions and/or tone of voice, then provides assistance to the driver to help support safer driving. Click here for more info.

  • 03 Honda CR-V

    The line-up of this all-new CR-V includes a series-first hybrid model equipped with Honda’s original Sport Hybrid i-MMD two-motor hybrid system, which will be available in front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants. A three-row seating type will be added to the line-up of the petrol model. The all-new CR-V is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in 2018. Click here for more info.

  • 04 Clarity PHEV

    Based on the Honda Sport Hybrid i-MMD, the Clarity PHEV – a new-generation plug-in hybrid model – features a bigger, more powerful battery with an EV range of more than 100km, an exterior form with low vehicle height, a large-capacity cargo area, and a spacious cabin that seats five adults. It’s scheduled to go on sale in Japan in summer 2018.

  • 05 Honda RoboCas Concept

    The Honda RoboCas Concept is a small-sized electric mobility product with a built-in carrying space to transport items.Pretty clever.

  • 06 Honda Riding Assist-e

    The Honda Riding Assist-e is an experimental motorcycle that utilises Honda’s proprietary balance-control technologies. The objectives: to offer motorcycle riders greater peace of mind, and to make life with motorcycles more fun by mitigating the risk of a fall.

  • 07 Super Cub 110

    A special model produced exclusively for the Tokyo Motor Show, the Super Cub 110 commemorates the 100 million-unit global production milestone, as well as the 60th anniversary of the Super Cub taking place in 2018.

  • 08 Super Cub C125

    The Super Cub C125 is an evolution of the first-generation Super Cub’s form and functionality. Key details: electric seat opener, smart key, ample power and, naturally, supreme comfort.

  • 09 Monkey 125

    A 125cc monkey bike with a horizontal, single-cylinder engine, the Monkey 125 has unique features such as LED lights and digital meters.

  • 10 Gold Wing Tour / Gold Wing

    The new Honda Gold Wing has had a complete model change, packing new technologies such as a newly developed, horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine, seven-speed DCT and Honda’s original double wishbone suspension. The Gold Wing is planned to go on sale through Honda’s new ‘Honda Dream’ sales channel to be launched in April 2018.

  • 11 PCX Electric

    The PCX Electric is an electric scooter equipped with a high-output motor and a ‘Honda Mobile Power Pack’ (essentially a detachable mobile battery pack). The scooter is scheduled to go on sale next year in Asia.

  • 12 PCX Hybrid

    The PCX Hybrid uses a compact hybrid system that employs a high-output battery and ACG starter to not only assist the engine, but also to enhance torque. The Honda PCX Hybrid is scheduled to go on sale next year in Asia.

  • 13 Cross Cub 110

    Sporting a crossover style that suits both urban and rural riding, the Cross Cub 110 is a tough new motorcycle with wide tires and a large leg shield.

  • 14 Honda Ie-Mobi Concept

    Pronounced: ‘ee-a mo-bee’ (‘Ie’ is the Japanese word for ‘home’), this electrical mobility product supplies electricity from car to home, and vice versa. Plus, at a spacious 4.95m2 , it’s so big it can be used as a room!

  • 15 Honda Fure-Mobi Concept

    Pronounced ‘foo-ray mo-bee’ (‘Fure’ comes from the Japanese word ‘Fureai’, meaning ‘interaction’, ‘contact’ or ‘touch’), this two-seater device is roughly the same size as a one-person electric wheelchair and, as such, can navigate tight spaces such as walkways and offices. Honda developed the Fure-Mobi Concept in the hope that it will make more people enjoy outings together.

  • 16 Honda Chair-Mobi Concept

    The Honda Chair-Mobi Concept is a chair-type mobility product that can be used in indoor and outdoor spaces. Its compact size and small turning radius mean it can fit into tight spaces, and its height-adjustable seat maintains a level position while being driven uphill and downhill. The objective is simple: enable the user to manoeuvre with the full flexibility of a pedestrian.

  • 17 Honda Ai-Miimo Concept

    Based on the Honda Miimo, the Honda Ai-Miimo Concept is a self-propelled electric robotic lawn mower which, thanks to its sophisticated AI, can not only communicate with its user, but support them in their everyday life. Honda has developed the Ai-Miimo Concept to ‘bring smiles and pleasant moments to people’s lives, just like a pet or family member.’
